She got a PhD degree in Building Engineering, discussing a dissertation on “Innovative techniques for monitoring historical buildings: fibre optic systems and laser vibrometry”. She has been working as Post-Doc Scholar on “Diagnostics and control of high performance construction materials and components” and on \"Innovative solutions for energy retrofitting of Mediterranean historical buildings\" at the Polytechnic of Bari. She is also founding member of university spin-off “B.Re.D. s.r.l.”
She has carried out researches on non destructive diagnostics – radar scanning, sonic and ultrasonic pulse velocity testing, thermography survey, and endoscopy inspection – as well as preventive monitoring – vibration, strain, temperature and moisture detection – on several historical buildings, aimed at formal and material conservation, as well as energy and seismic retrofitting.
She has cooperated with international institutes, including the Centre of Biomimetics, University of Reading, UK and the Laboratory of Smart Structures Technology, University of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA.
She is a member of the CIB Committee W86 “Building Pathology” and she is author of several national and international publications.
